SC16458 function descriptions commands after the stb pin changes from ?high? to ?low?, SC16458g will obtain a command via the din pin. otherwise, the stb pin is set to ?high?, the data/co mmands being transmitted are considered invalid and the communication is initialized. command 1: data setting commands the data setting commands executes the data write or data read modes for SC16458g. the data setting command, the bit 5 and bit 6 (b4, b5) are ignored, bit 7 (b6) is given the value of ?1? while bit 8(b7) is set the value ?0?. please refer to the diagram below. when power is on, bit 4 to bit 1 (b3 to b0) are set the value of ?0?. 0 - - b3b2b1b0 1 data write & read mode settings: 00: write data to display mode not relevant msb lsb address increment mode settings (display mode): 0: increment address after data has been written (see note 1) 1: fixes address mode settings: 0: normal operation mode 1: test mode note: 1. if you want to set bit 3 (b2) to ?0?, pleas e remember that dig5 address cannot be ignored since g5 exists, however, it is not exter nally bonded. please refer to command 2, display mode and ram address section. command 2: address setting commands the address of the display memory is set by address setti ng commands. if the address has a value of ?00h? to ?09h?, it is considered valid. if the address is set to 0ah or higher, the data is ignored until a valid address is set. when power is turned on, the address is set at ?00h?. please refer to the diagram below. 1 - - b3b2b1b0 1 address: 00h to 09h not relevant msb lsb display mode and ram address when an external device transmits the serial data into SC16458g, this data is stored in the display ram and is assigned addresses. the ram addresses of SC16458g are given below in 8-bit unit. hangzhou silan microelectronics co.,ltd rev:1.2 2004.8.31 http: www.silan.com.cn page 3 of 10
